Before becoming a partner at Howes Wolf, Chris Howes founded The Howes Group in 2001 after years of government affairs work at the local level lobbying Denver City Council.

Since then, he’s been front and center in most of the big legislative battles at the Colorado state capitol. From “beer wars” to internet sales taxation, Chris has successfully navigated the toughest issues for his clients. He represents some of the biggest names in business and he’s committed to protecting and advancing their business success and opportunity.

Chris earned his bachelor’s from St. Lawrence University in upstate New York and his master’s from Tufts University in Massachusetts. In 1997, he left the East Coast for the mountains of Colorado and began his fruitful career in Colorado politics. He possesses an institutional knowledge that informs successful strategy and a well-honed ability to maximize results for his clients.

Katie Wolf

Prior to becoming a partner at Howes Wolf in 2022, Katie Wolf founded Wolf Public Affairs, a successful contract lobbying firm serving clients in healthcare, business and criminal justice. Katie brings well over a decade of government affairs and lobbying experience to the team. She has managed campaign strategy and fundraising for campaigns on both the state and federal level, branded and re-branded clients at the Colorado State Capitol, advised on long-term political and legislative strategy, and developed political giving entities and plans.

After graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder, Katie began her career in politics as a Legislative Aide, staffer to the Majority Caucus in 2006 and eventual full-time lobbyist and Senior Associate with Michael Best Strategies and Mendez Consulting. Working with these firms over eight years honed Katie’s policy expertise, highly-regarded skills in legislative strategy and negotiation, and built her reputation as a trusted resource for her clients and legislators alike. Katie was also part of the campaign teams for Senator Michael Bennet’s successful 2010 statewide Senate campaign and Colorado’s 2008 Obama for President Campaign.

Over the past decade, Katie has established herself as a well-respected, bi-partisan lobbyist and has earned the admiration of her colleagues and Colorado’s legislators as an honest broker and hard worker. In her free time, Katie enjoys camping, karaoke, and watching Broncos football.

Angie Howes

Angie Howes has worked in Colorado’s government affairs community for 13 years and brings a range of experience in legislative, policy, and political work.

Coming from a corporate background, Angie switched career paths in 2009 when she accepted a position working with state Senator Linda Newell (D). Following her work with Senator Newell, Angie's experience includes launching and managing the state Chamber of Commerce’s Manufacturing Initiative, serving as the National Stroke Association’s Director of Political Advocacy, where she managed their national and state federal advocacy programs; and lobbying the Colorado General Assembly on issues of healthcare, business regulation, labor and employment policy, transportation, and first amendment rights.

At the Colorado state capitol, Angie is well-regarded as a relentless advocate for her clients, a tough adversary, and collaborative ally.

Outside of politics and the state capitol, Angie serves on the Board of Directors at Warren Village, a non-profit focused on helping single parents achieve self-sufficiency. She is also an avid painter specializing in mixed media and acrylics.
